Veterans Day Ceremony and Veterans Lunch Celebration

Join our Veterans Day Ceremony on Friday, November 11 at 10:00 AM at the Town Green on Buckley Highway On Friday, November 11th, the Town of Union will be holding a ceremony in honor of our veterans on the Union Town Green at 10:00am. Following the ceremony, Union School and the Union School Association are hosting a Veterans Lunch Celebration at 11:00 AM.  All veterans and their spouses are invited to join us in this celebration. TOWN OF UNION CONNECTICUT

Union was the last town to be settled east of the Connecticut River, largely because of its rough terrain and poor soil. In 1633, John Oldham, an adventurer from Massachusetts, obtained specimens of black lead or graphite from the Indians. During the Revolutionary War Governor Trumbull tapped this valuable resource for use at cannon foundries. On July 1, 1720 the General Assembly sold 12,500 acres to 12 proprietors for 307 pounds, comprising the area that is now Union.
