Selectmen’s Meeting                                     November 4, 2019                        Union, Connecticut

 

 First Selectman Eaton called the meeting to order at 7: 30 p.m.

 

Attending:  Selectmen – David D. Eaton, Mary Huda

 

Persons to be Heard:  None

 

Approval of Minutes from the October 21, 2019 meeting is tabled for the November 18, 2019 meeting.

 

Bills were presented for review.  First Selectman Eaton made the motion to pay the bills as presented; seconded by Selectman Huda.  Vote was unanimous.

           

Correspondence:  Letter from Woodstock Academy regarding the per-student facility fee.

 

New Business:

 

Recent legislation regarding Tax Abatement was discussed. The Town implements the current State Statute requirements and will continue with the current tax abatement offerings.

 

The Board discussed the new laws regarding Sexual Harassment Prevention Training for employees. The Selectman’s Office will notify all employees of the required training, to be completed by June 30, 2020.

 

The 2020 Selectmen’s Meeting schedule was approved and will be submitted to the Town Clerk.

 

The new Town Facebook page information will be posted on the Town website and Town notice board.

 

The First Selectman and Treasurer are investigating the possibility of Stafford Savings Bank handling Town banking services.

 

The recent storm and power outages were discussed. First Selectman Eaton will be contacting Eversource to address communication issues regarding outages.

 

Public Works received a check for the sale of the trailer on GovDeals.com.

 

Motion to adjourn at 8:30 p.m. by First Selectman Eaton; seconded by Selectman Huda.  Vote was unanimous.
