Selectmen’s Meeting                                     August 5, 2019                          Union, Connecticut


First Selectman Eaton called the meeting to order at 7: 30 p.m.


Attending:  Selectmen – David D. Eaton, David Heck, Mary Huda


Minutes from the July 15, 2019 meeting were read. Selectman Heck made a motion to accept the minutes as read; seconded by First Selectman Eaton.  2 votes yes; 1 abstention.


Bills were presented for review.  Selectman Heck made the motion to pay the bills as presented; seconded by Selectman Huda.  Vote was unanimous.


Persons to be Heard: Tom Schenking of EastConn Technology Solutions, presented the Board with an overview of IT support services.


Following review and discussion with Mr. Schenking, Selectman Heck made a motion to have EastConn Technology Solutions assist the Assessor with installing the new server and with any other related issues. The Town offices will also contract with EastConn Technology Solutions to utilize a break/fix hourly service plan provided by EastConn Technology Solutions for technical support. Motion seconded by First Selectman Eaton. Vote was unanimous.


EastConn will provide a price quote for offsite back up storage.                 




  • Thank you note from Lt. Gov. Bysiewicz for attending meeting with area First Selectmen.
  • Tax Bill memo from resident.
  • Notification from DOT regarding replacement of town salt shed roof.
  • Email from Lt. Gov. Bysiewicz’ office regarding a Town Census Committee.
  • Memo from Tax Collector regarding Yale property tax.

    Assessor Mary Huda will draft a memo to Yale to address the issue.


New Business:


Selectman Huda made a motion to reaffirm the current Town Appointments for the term of August 15, 2019 to August 15, 2021, allowing a 45-day grace period for future Boards of Selectmen to review and make the appointments. Motion seconded by Selectman Heck. Vote was unanimous.


Per request by the First Selectman Eaton, there has been some presence of a State Trooper on Stickney Hill, to monitor speeding.


Motion to adjourn at 8:43 p.m. by Selectman Heck; seconded by Selectman Huda.  Vote was unanimous.
