Selectmen’s Meeting                           July 1, 2019                           Union, Connecticut

 

First Selectman Eaton called the meeting to order at 7: 37 p.m.

 

Attending:  Selectmen – David D. Eaton, David Heck, Mary Huda

 

Minutes from the June 17, 2019 meeting were read. Selectman Huda made a motion to accept the minutes as read; seconded by Selectman Heck.  Vote was unanimous.

 

Bills were presented for review.  Selectman Heck made the motion to pay the bills as presented; seconded by Selectman Huda.  Vote was unanimous.

Correspondence:

 

  • Thank you letter from the Town of Union Historical Society for the installation of the Mini-Split Heat Pump/Air Conditioner for the Historical Society Museum, as well as the painting of the building exterior.
  • NECCOG Sustainable Connecticut municipal program informational memo.
  • Memo from CCM regarding changes for the MBR provisions for the 2019-2020 Budget.

 

New Business:

 

Mr. Ed McGuire, from DEEP Forestry, met with First Selectman Eaton to discuss repair to May Brook Bridge at the end of Skopek Road, on Paine Hill Road in the Forest. The bridge will be gated and metal plated.

 

Following review of the proposed Town Appointments, Selectman Heck made the motion to reaffirm said Appointments, effective July 1, 2019 to August 15, 2019; motion was seconded by First Selectman Eaton. Vote was 2 in favor; 1 abstention.  The Appointments will be reaffirmed for a 2-year term at the August 5, 2019 Selectmen’s meeting, to avoid a July coverage gap in appointments going forward.

 

Per request of the Library Board, Selectman Heck made a motion to appoint Joshua Lambert to fill a vacancy on the Union Free Public Library Board of Directors, effective immediately until May 3, 2021. The motion was seconded by Selectman Huda. Vote was unanimous.

 

Per request of the Library Board, Selectman ­­­­Heck made a motion to appoint Bertha Syphers to fill a vacancy on the Union Free Public Library Board of Directors, effective immediately until May 3, 2021. The motion was seconded by Selectman Huda. Vote was unanimous.

 

Discussion was held regarding NECCOG services to municipal members for Human Resource, Veteran Services and Social Services support. The Selectman’s office will set up a meeting the NECCOG to get more information.

 

Motion to adjourn at 8:15 p.m. by Selectman Heck; seconded by Selectman Huda.  Vote was unanimous.
