Selectmen’s Meeting                                    September 4, 2018                    Union, Connecticut



First Selectman Eaton called the meeting to order at 7: 32 p.m.


Attending:  Selectmen – David D. Eaton, David Heck; Mary Huda


Minutes from the August 20, 2018 meeting were read. Selectman Huda made a motion to accept the minutes with the following amendments: Joshua Lambert was appointed to fill the vacancy left by Gillian Zieger on the Union Free Public Library Board of Directors, effective immediately. And Karen Calabrese was appointed to fill the vacancy left by Jackie Capomacchio, effective immediately. Motion was seconded by Selectman Heck. Vote was unanimous.


Bills were presented for review.  Selectman Heck made the motion to pay the bills as presented; seconded by Selectman Huda.  Vote was unanimous.


The Emergency Management Plan Grant has been awarded to the Union Volunteer Fire Department. The Fire Department will submit a check to be deposited to the Capital Fund account. Upon Fire Department’s submission of expenditure receipts to the State, the reimbursement monies will be deposited to said account. The Fire Department will be issued a check from the Capital Fund account for the grant monies awarded.


The Board discussed the fee increases proposed by the Cemetery Committee.  The revised proposal will be reviewed by the Board of Selectmen for approval at the next meeting.


Christopher Nelson of System Solutions of N.E., LLC, will be installing the software for back up on Wednesday, September 5, 2018.


A proposed Sexual Harassment Policy for the Town of Union employees was reviewed and revised. Proposed revisions will be considered and finalized at the September 17 meeting.


First Selectman Eaton will be attending a workshop on Ethics, Accountability, and Conflicts of Interest for Municipalities on September 5, 2018. The Board will begin work on the Town of Union Code of Ethics following this training.


Motion to adjourn at 8:43 p.m. by Selectman Heck; seconded by Selectman Huda.  Vote was unanimous.
