Selectmen’s Meeting November 2, 2020 Union, Connecticut
First Selectman Eaton called the meeting to order at 7:50 p.m.
Attending: Selectmen – David D. Eaton, David Heck, Mary Huda
Persons to be Heard: None
Minutes from the October 19, 2020 meeting were read. Selectman Huda made a motion to accept the minutes as presented; seconded by Selectman Heck. Vote was unanimous.
Bills were presented for review. Selectman Heck made the motion to pay the bills as presented. Motion seconded by Selectman Huda. Vote was unanimous.
Correspondence: Email from Union School USA Secretary requesting use of Community Room for their November 19 meeting. The Board approved this request, as it is a committee associated with the Union School.
Tax Collector’s October Report
First Selectman Eaton requested use of the Community Room for the Union Volunteer Fire Department meetings held during the winter months, November through February. The fire trucks cannot be parked outside in the cold, and thus, there will not be enough space in the Fire House to safely distance. The Board approved this request.
Following review and discussion, Selectman Heck made a motion that the Town enter into the proposed contract with C. Goodrich Alarm Company to monitor the Union Town Hall alarm system. Motion seconded by Selectman Huda. Vote was unanimous.
First Selectman Eaton informed the Board that the water pump for the Town Hall well broke down this week. The pump was repaired for the time being, but will need to be replaced. He will get a quote for the next meeting to present to the Board. Possible funding options were discussed.
Effective Friday, November 6, the State of Connecticut will move back to Phase 2.1 for Connecticut opening during the Covid Pandemic.
The November 16 Board meeting will be set up on Zoom, as well as in person.
The filling in of the 2021-2022 Proposed Town Budget will begin for the November 16 meeting.
Old Business: First Selectman Eaton spoke with Mr. Schenking of EastConn Technology Solutions regarding the Assessor Vision server issues.
Motion to adjourn at 8:55 p.m. by First Selectman Eaton; seconded by Selectman Heck. Vote was unanimous.
