The meeting was called to order by Board of Finance Chair Christopher Santucci at 7:26 pm.

Due to the COVID-19 Pandemic, the meeting was held virtually, under the platform Zoom.

Members present: Christopher Santucci, Joseph Cross, Scott Mangold, Chuck Singer, Erick Ponkala and Scott Crevier. Also present: First Selectman David Eaton, Town Tax Collector Maureen Eaton, and Town Assessor and Selectman Mary Huda.

The regular meeting minutes of April 07, 2020 were reviewed. A motion was made by Scott Mangold to approve the minutes. Chuck Singer seconded the motion. The motion was carried.

The proposed budget for the 20-21 Fiscal Year was discussed. The members present agreed to continue with no changes.

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Town of Union will follow the guidelines put forth by Connecticut’s governor to provide a 2020 – 2021 annual town budget.  The guidelines are intended to ensure we comply with the social distancing recommendations while still providing the town’s people with the opportunity to participate in the budget-making process. This proposed budget is a collaborative effort of the Board of Finance, Board of Selectmen and Board of Education


 This year the Board of Finance will utilize Zoom (web- based virtual meeting platform) to hold our public town hearing on May 5, 2020 at 7:00 pm.  In order to participate, town residents need to submit their email address to firstselectman@unionconnecticut.org. If you currently receive Town of Union weekly email updates, you do not need to submit your email address. An electronic invitation will be sent to you automatically. This information, including the proposed annual town budget, will be posted on the Town of Union’s website, www.unionconnecticut.org.


On May 19, 2020, the Board of Finance will hold its regularly scheduled meeting at 7:00 pm and vote on the proposed budget.  Should the budget pass, the mil rate will be set.


A motion was made by Christopher Santucci to adjourn at 7:46 pm. Joe Cross seconded the motion. The motion was carried.
