Public Hearing May 5, 2020


The hearing was called to order by Board of Finance Chair Christopher Santucci at 7:06 pm.

Members present: Christopher Santucci, Joseph Cross, Scott Mangold, Chuck Signer, Erick Ponkala and Scott Crevier.

Due to the Covid-19 Pandemic, the hearing was held virtually using the platform Zoom. Town residents who wished to attend the hearing were asked to contact the First Selectman’s office to plan arrangements for invitation. 27 people dialed in.

Board of Finance Chair Christopher Santucci presented the proposed town budget for the 2020-2021 Fiscal Year to the residents in attendance. Andrea Estell from the Board of Education reviewed what reductions were made in their budget, including transportation, high school decrease, and the combination on the principal and superintendent position for a trial year period. Several questions were answered including the education budget and why a reduction was now permitted, traffic violation surcharges, Woodstock capital assessment, when the budget will be voted on, and the future of public hearings with the ongoing pandemic.

The meeting was adjourned at 8:07 pm.
