BOARD OF FINANCE REGULAR MEETING – January 15, 2019
 
The hearing was called to order by Board of Finance Chair Christopher Santucci at 7:00 pm. Members present: Christopher Santucci, Joseph Cross, Chuck Singer and Erick Ponkala.  
 
Also in attendance were First Selectman Dave Eaton, Registrar of Voters Josh Lambert, Tax Collector Maureen Eaton, Treasurer Amanda Gaug, Board of Education Andrea Estell and Superintendent of Schools Joe Reardon, and the auditor from O’Connor Davies Joseph Cenofanti.
 
The Auditor and the Board of Finance members reviewed the Audit Report for fiscal year 2017-18. Several questions were addressed. The audit is now complete.
 
Registrar of Voters Josh Lambert discussed several changes in the Registrar of Voters budget. A third registrar is needed as required by the state and basic increases in the poll workers pay were included to attract more poll workers at elections.
 
Board of Education Andrea Estell and Superintendent Joe Reardon discussed the current fiscal year school budget. Due to unanticipated expenses, the school may need an additional $10,000 to cover this years expenses. Fiscal year 2019-20 budget for the school was also presented. The Board of Education is requesting a budget of $2,148,897 which is an increase of $92,354.
 
 The minutes of the December 18, 2019 special meeting were reviewed. A motion was made by Chris Santucci to approve the minutes as read. Erick Ponkala seconded the motion. The motion was carried.   The minutes of the December 18, 2019 regular meeting were reviewed. A motion was made by Chuck Singer to approve the minutes as read. Joseph Cross seconded the motion. The motion was carried.  
 
First Selectman Dave Eaton discussed planning for a new town truck and other town vehicles including those needed for the Fire Department. The members will review the various financing options available.
 
The members discussed the Revenue, Expenditure and Vendor History Report; Fraud, Risk Management, Internal Controls and Town Policies; future Planning; the supplemental tax bill; budget planning for fiscal year 2019-20.
 
A motion was made by Joseph Cross to adjourn at 8:41 pm. Chuck Singer seconded the motion. The motion was carried.
