Assistant Assessor Position Available in Town Hall

The Town of Union is currently seeking qualified applicants for the position of Assistant Assessor. This is a part-time, salaried position that provides technical and administrative assistance to the Assessor and assumes responsibility for the office during the public open hours. Ability to perform basic motor vehicle and personal property functions, including corrections to the grand list preferred. Individual must be willing and able to attend training sessions, as well as courses to work toward State Certification. Three one day AAT (Assessment Administration Technician) seminars are offered every Spring, as well as one full week of Assessor School annually in June. Training also available on assessment specific software programs.
This is a 5-6 hour per week position. The Assessor’s Office is presently open to the public Wednesdays 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM
The individual will work under the supervision of the Assessor; provide technical and administrative assistance to the Assessor in the valuation of real and personal property, including motor vehicles; assist in field investigation and inspections, as assigned, collect and process information to establish the Town Grand List and, will act for the Assessor in his/her absence. Ability and willingness to travel within Connecticut and Massachusetts for training.
Individual must have a high school diploma or equivalent, and a proficiency in all Microsoft Office applications. Willingness to learn assessment administration and CAMA computer programs. Applicants should possess excellent organizational and problem solving skills. Experience with customer service, as well as verbal and written communication skills and must possess a valid Motor Vehicle driver’s license.
