Selectmen’s Meeting             July 19, 2021                        Union, Connecticut

 

First Selectman Eaton called the meeting to order at 7:45 p.m.

 

Attending:  Selectmen – David D. Eaton, David Heck, Mary Huda

 

Persons to be Heard:  None

 

Minutes from the July 6, 2021 meeting were read. Selectman Huda made a motion to accept the minutes as presented; seconded by Selectman Heck.  Vote was unanimous.

 

Bills were presented for review.  Selectman Heck made the motion to pay the bills as presented. Motion seconded by Selectman Huda.  Vote was unanimous.

 

Correspondence:

 

  • Notice that the Town Clerk was awarded the Connecticut State Library Preservation Grant in the amount of $5,500, which will be applied to a town copier.

 

  • Letter from the new Commanding Officer at Troop C, Lt Forrest Ruddy.

 

  • Letter from Attorney Mead regarding Rizner property.

                               

New Business: 

 

  • First Selectman Eaton made the following motion to approve payment to Stuart Cobb in the amount of $250.00 out of the Civil Preparedness Account 2160-200, in appreciation for serving as the Emergency Management Director for the Town of Union for the FY 2020-2021. Motion seconded by Selectman Heck. Vote was unanimous.

 

  • The Board reviewed and discussed the Fiscal Year 2020-2021 year-end reporting.

 

  • First Selectman Eaton attended the Mashapaug Lake Association meeting held on July 14, 2021.

 

  • CIRMA will be out to deliver the Town’s equity distribution check in the amount of $3,676 on August 4.

 

Old Business:

 

  • Advanced Air Quality is coming in to clean the duct work in the town office building on July 22.

 

  • The library basement became wet during Storm Elsa. First Selectman Eaton suggested a commercial dehumidifier for the library. He has received one rough estimate of $2000 installed, and will obtain other estimates. This expense should be covered under the American Rescue Act.

               

Motion to adjourn at 8:51 p.m. by Selectman Heck; seconded by Selectman Huda. Vote was unanimous.
