Selectmen’s Meeting                           January 19, 2021                      Union, Connecticut



First Selectman Eaton called the meeting to order at 7:32 p.m.


Attending:  Selectmen – David D. Eaton, Mary Huda, David Heck


Persons to be Heard:  None


Minutes from the January 4, 2021 meeting were read. Selectman Huda made a motion to accept the minutes as presented; seconded by Selectman Heck. Vote was unanimous.


Bills were presented for review.  Selectman Heck made the motion to pay the bills as presented. Motion seconded by Selectman Huda.  Vote was unanimous


Correspondence:  Letter from Public Works to Board of Finance regarding a dump truck repair

                                    Eastern Connecticut Conservation District letter


New Business:    


Old Business:       The water pump was installed in the Town Hall on January 8.


The Board gave the final review of Selectmen’s Proposed 2021-2022 Budget. The Town is still waiting on 2021-2022 Health District payment amount.


The School USDA loan was reviewed and discussed. The First Selectman and Treasurer will look into options to reduce the $900,000 interest to be paid in the current loan schedule. Various possibilities were discussed to pay down the principle sooner.


First Selectman Eaton discussed the Town need for a loader. Public Works submitted the cost in the budget for 2021-22. If they are not able to procure a good used one, the funds can be returned to the general fund.


Selectman Heck made a motion to submit the Selectmen’s Proposed 2021-2022 Budget to the Board of Finance.

Seconded by Selectman Huda.  Vote was unanimous.


Motion to adjourn at 8:15 p.m. by Selectman Heck; seconded by Selectman Huda. Vote was unanimous.
